Message from the Bishop of Worcester

The church buildings of England are a precious inheritance. They are markers and makers of sacred space in the townscape and landscape of England witnessing to the Christian faith which has shaped and formed us as a nation. The buildings hold the stories of the communities that they have served through the ages. Churches are not the private premises of a private members club, but are in a sense the possession of us all because they hold our stories.

The Festival of Churches is an opportunity to share these wonderful buildings with the wider community. In the Diocese of Worcester we are committed to making our buildings fit for purpose as a spiritual and community resource. We welcome visitors to the church buildings of the Diocese to learn the stories of those who have used them for generations and the stories of us now. We hope many people will come and visit throughout the weekend.
